How many people do you share a bathroom with at st mary's durham?

Hi,
I just got my accomodation offer for St. Mary's college Durham, and it says I'll be sharing a bathroom. Any current/former students know how many people I'll likely to be sharing with, if there are gender neutral bathrooms, what the facilities look like, anything along those lines? Non binary, autistic, and really anxious about sharing a bathroom. Any info is appreciated.
Thanks!

Edit: Any details about what the kitchens are like/what appliances they've got would be helpful too - I know it's catered but I'd like to be able to make meals/snacks for myself occasionally, and am wondering what I should bring.

Hey, I'm also going to Durham this year, I'm at South not St Mary's though. I found this on SM website, "Each corridor has a pantry area (small kitchens with fridge, kettle and toaster) and communal toilet and shower facilities. The number of rooms on each corridor varies. Some corridors may have as few as 6 rooms, whilst others may have up to 24 rooms. Corridors are normally mixed but the College does offer accommodation to female students requiring female-only accommodation in the Boughton Wing."

Oh also, they do have 30 en-suites, so considering that you are autistic you might qualify for specific circumstances if that is something you are interest in looking into.

Yeah, I saw that (to your first reply) - the way that's phrased makes it sound like I'd be sharing a single bathroom with like 20 other people though, which can't be right. Bad phrasing, rip. Hoping someone will tell me what it actually looks like.

(reply 2) Unfortunately I have already submitted the forms and had the meeting and all that; I didn't qualify for en suite though, evidently (I do have various other accomodations, like, they have put me in a single room, and I think i'm getting a lockable med storage).

Ahh see I interpreted the phrasing as in there will be toilet cubicles, although I didn't see this at Durham, it was like this at other unis such as Bristol. That's surprising they didn't grant you specific accommodation, I am in a similar situation and I have private bathroom, but at South most people do so maybe that's why. Are you going to the early access days??

I did get specific accom for my needs, but just not en suite sadly. Ig there just aren't enough for everyone who needs one.
Ye, I'll be at early access - though, in the email about accom, they said my start date is the 27th, which is flat out incorrect (early access is 25th, and I'm trying to contact st mary's to ask if I can arrive a day early because I'm coming from about six hours away and don't want to miss the first day of it). Sent them an email about it but who knows when they'll see it - maybe I should try phoning them?

Hello!! Even though I am at Josephine Butler, my sister went to Mary’s a few years ago and she said that bathrooms are shared with people in your corridor (usually 8-12). There are a few private toilet cubicles and a row of showers. She also said there are kitchenettes on each corridor which have a kettle, toaster and fridge with storage. You will be able to work our quiet times so you can assess when is best to go, but she says she never found it busy. You also have a sink in your room so you don’t have to stand brushing your teeth in the communal areas.

Hope this info helps, good luck with your studies. 😊
