Uni Backpack Recommendations??

I’m starting my first year of university and I need a new backpack! I would love some recommendations on where to look for some that have good padding & a laptop sleeve too.
Any general advice about what else to look for in a backpack would be great too!

Hiya @councilofelrond ,
I like to have a waterproof backpack to carry my laptop and belongings with me, especially since I walk to uni. If you are on a budget you can check out Vinted which has some great 2nd hand options☺️ Although they are little pricy, I think Rains has some good options (you can even find some 2nd hand). hope this helps😋

Hi @councilofelrond. Congrats on the start of your first year and good luck! For a new backpack I would say try shopping in your local area around to see if anyone in any markets or clothing places are selling backpacks. If you can not find any then I would suggest looking online, especially on Amazon! they have really good deals. I hope this helped 😃

Hi @councilofelrond

Congratulations on getting into uni for September! I am sure you will have an amazing time. For my first year I had a Berghaus backpack and found that it was suitable for everything whether that was carrying books/folders and also fitting in my laptop! It has a pocket at the back which is perfect for laptops and multiple other storage compartments for anything else I needed! It is also the perfect size, not too big or not too small and is made with a good quality material!

Backpacks are definitely the easiest thing to use at uni when moving around between lectures etc, especially if you will be carrying a laptop on you!

This link includes a rucksack that is similar to mine incase you wanted to have a better look! https://www.berghaus.com/unisex-berghaus-brand-bag-25-black-dark-grey/13144574.html

I hope this response has helped slightly, let me know if you have any other questions, I am more than happy to help!

Thanks, Matt 🙂

Hey there 👋

My name is Siobhan and I’m a third year student at the University of Central Lancashire 👩*🎓 This is a great question and I remember looking for a sturdy backpack too! Here are some other things I would look for in a backpack:

Definitely keep waterproof in mind when looking at a backpack, especially if you plan on commuting to uni. There will be rainy days and the last thing you want it to get your laptop or notepads wet!!

Spacious backpacks are really helpful because you don’t realise how much stuff you will need to be bringing with you til you’re there. I made sure to get one that has a zipper to extend the space of the bag for when I brought my packed lunch or extra revision material.

Strap support is SOOOO important to avoid any upper back pain (physio advice here) so make sure you don’t get a backpack with thin or flimsy straps that look like they can rub onto your skin or push into your shoulders.

Some places you can look at for good sturdy backpacks for a decent price are TK Max, Amazon, Sports direct!

Hope this helps and please let me know if you have any questions 🙂
