Hello!

I don't think many university admin staff work weekends. They'd be on strike if anyone even mentioned the idea to them.

There's still a good few weeks before the start of the term. I'm sure this will be sorted out early next week. Nobody is missing out on anything so perhaps best not to worry. The college allocation system seems to be somewhat random regardless of whether you were accepted early or late.

I honestly think this is just ridiculous; me and my family have been anxiously waiting for any news. STILL nothing. Its been more than 3 weeks since results day and We have yet to have any accom confirmation, Frankly im just sick of it!!

Ik it’s so annoying but defo don’t expect anything until probably late Monday now at the very earliest - it seems Durham admin staff strictly work 9-5 weekdays and no later.

It’s defo something to feed back on in the future but atm there is nothing you can do so try not to worry too much - I know it’s tough xx

Hi both, I know that this wait can seem really frustrating but all new students should expect to receive login credentials by the end of next Friday (12th September).

This is the thing, I’m super worried as I went through clearing and I haven’t even had an email allowing me to rank the colleges, that I was told I would get! I would also love to know what I need to bring in terms of catered or self catered…I don’t understand why the admin team can’t at least tell us when the allocations might be out?! It’s stressing everyone out lol

I went thru clearing too but i got told we aren’t allowed to rank colleges or preference accommodation… but yes I agree im stressed too

does anyone have any updates? i have sent out multiple emails enquiring about my college allocation to which i have received an email referring me to the accommodation office who have still not responded, I have tried ringing the CIS department but have been on hold for over an hour and a half

I rang the enrolment team and they have extended their deadline to sometime midweek.

This is so ridiculous. Why even bother setting deadlines if they are so incapable of making them?? Not helped by the fact that the accom office refuse to answer emails and calls

its such a joke every department i have emailed i have received the same automated line saying, This email address is now not regularly monitored, and you may receive a longer wait in terms of reply, emails i have sent ages ago still haven't been replied to, and its impossible to speak to via call

Durham University has had a reputation for poor administration stretching back over several years, so unfortunately it comes as no surprise that this is a complete cluster.
This is now getting ridiculous for those involved who have my deepest sympathy. Hope it is resolved soon.
As an aside I don't understand why they announce preliminary allocations as some people have got very upset at prospect of being reallocated - despite the obvious meaning of preliminary. Perhaps if they just put everyone into their system after results day and ran the algorithm then it would be more efficient and also quicker, applicants would have to accept they won't always get they want - that's life.

I think you have to email this one [email protected] not the one that has undergrad in the email address. But even so I haven’t had a reply from either, whether it was emails I sent last week or emails from months ago.

Tbh I think the best people to get in contact with are the general uni help team or the admissions people bc at least they actually reply, but they will just tell you to go and email accommodation so it doesn’t really do much

As to preliminary allocations, yes a bit stupid considering half of people’s choices they just disregard anyway and the other half they reallocate. Might as well not bother asking for choices if they are going to do that and automatically allocate at random after results day which would surely be much quicker. Every other uni can manage it so why can’t Durham? Honestly I feel like I could do it better atp

They aren’t even answering their chat bot quite pathetic
