GCSE retake

I want to be homeschooled to retake my gcse exam but my teacher told me you are 16 and I have to be a full time student or I have to work. Can I not be homeschooled st the age of 16?
Please help with what i should do

You can be home educated at 16, yes, and you can retake exams privately (at a cost), but if you were not previously home educated then your parents will stop receiving Child Benefit for you at that point.

Someone who was previously home educated before 16, and then continues to be home educated after 16, does not face that issue - their parents do still receive Child Benefit.

Unfair system I know but that's how it is.

But aside from the Child Benefit issue, absolutely you can be home educated at 16.
