gsce schedule, help pls!!

do you think dedicating one day for each gcse subject is a good way to revise, for e.g. monday for maths only, tuesday for biology only, is this good? because i feel like i would work better if im able to put all my focus into one subject in a day but i feel like reviewing them regularly is good to revise properly

Depends on the person. I found that I could do more work doing one subject a day but then whenever I didn’t like the work I set myself, I would feel really demotivated and just did not do anything so instead I did 2 subjects a day. Perhaps do one focus subject but as a warm up do small chunks of other subjects

Everyone revises in a different way, but if you think that you can work better and revise more effectively if you focus on just one subject a day, then I don't see any reason why not! However, remember that it is totally okay to change your schedule every so often and have some flexibility in your revision schedule because this makes you have more autonomy over your time, which might help either if you're feeling stressed or you want to study on a specific subject or topic or when you have exams soon. Good luck!

Some pieces of advice if you find yourself changing your schedule very often. I recommend using the pomodoro technique when studying - if you aren't familiar with this, it's essentially setting yourself a set time to study and a set time to have a break. Often it's 25 minutes of intense studying and followed by a 5 minute break, though you can change this to your own liking depending on how you feel about the particular subject/topic you are studying.
Secondly, listening to music often really helps when studying because for me, it makes me associate studying with good things. However, if you choose to do so, make sure it's music without lyrics because lyrics will be a distraction to your study session.
Here's one that I particularly like because it's very motivational:

Thirdly, this will be so relatable to everyone doing GCSEs, the activation energy to even get up and start a study session is so high, and don't worry because this is not only you. Often we know we should be studying but there's always that voice in the back of our head saying "I can't be bothered today" or something like that. In this case, apply the "five-minute rule." This is essentially stating that instead of completing a 1 hr study session as the goal, try setting the goal as studying for 5 minutes, which is easy! This significantly reduces the activation energy required to start a study session and once the 5 minutes are up you will be much more motivated to continue.
Fourthly, and this is by far the most important tip, be kind to yourself. Don't give yourself more stress (which is easier said than done), but you need to remember that although GCSEs are important, there is much more to life, and it is so SO important to take care of your mental health and make sure you are eating and definitely make sure that you are sleeping properly, because staying up late to study is not worth it. I'm going into y12 and not taking care of myself in y11 is something I seriously regret, so make sure you don't make the same mistake as me. 🙂
If you need any more tips for y11 then feel free to let me know. Good luck!

Hi @rana.x !

I think this sounds like a great idea to try out. See how it works and go from there. However, if you find that focusing on only one subject in a day is too much, it could be a good idea to break it up with other subjects, even just one!

No matter what, remember to break up your studying with short and regular breaks!!

Good luck😄

Depends how many subjects you're taking... if it's more than 7 then that approach won't work as you'll run out of days.
