Studying a course while applying to another

Is it possible for me to study a course for one year which is pharmacy while applying to another course such as medicine. I’m starting pharmacy this September. Like what references would I need to use since I’ll only be at the uni for a month or two, would college references work? Do universities even accept this?

Yes you could do that, and I don’t see why references from college wouldn’t work.

Why are you in pharmacy if you don’t intend on continuing it? Is it like a backup plan if you don’t get into medicine you will continue pharmacy?

If you only changed your mind recently, maybe going to an open day and speaking to a professor could help you make up your mind better?

And if you do start medicine you probably need to restart a year one which means you are taking on more loans.

My university has a if you drop out before Christmas you get 75% of your tuition back so check if your university has similar.

I do know a lot of people who switched unis after foundation year/first year but they all chose the same or very similar field. It might be tough for you.

Good luck!

Yes I’m using pharmacy as a backup because I do actually like the course but I still want to try medicine. And yes I might plan on attending a few open days. I wanted to ask though would I need to inform the universities I’m applying to that I’m studying pharmacy or the university I’m studying pharmacy at that I’m applying to medicine? Would it look bad?

Dont ever start a Uni course that you are not 100% committed to - its a pointless waste of time and money.
I believe many med schools specifically won't accept an application from someone enrolled elsewhere. It's really going to limit your options at best, plus if you've not taken the UCAT this cycle you'll need to do so by 26th Sept.

I think yesterday you were looking to retake your AL and that would be the best route if med is your goal.
