Funding for second part time STEM degree after completing one STEM degree and a PGCE

Help needed please!

I have applied for student finance for a part-time OU degree (Bsc Hons Environmental Science).

I have a degree in Astronomy and planetary science and completed a PGCE in 2024.

The online application at this point stopped, citing the fact that I gad earned a PGCE meant I was not able to apply for finance.

Is this correct, or a limitation in the online process, whereby exception degrees are not recognised?

Hi gareth1675,

Thank you for confirming. That is a course which is an exception to previous study and ELQ rules, therefore you should be eligible to apply, it just needs to be manually reviewed by an assessor. Can you confirm if the application is submitted?

Hi Clare,

I can't submit the application online because it cancels as soon as I enter my PGCE as previous study.

Would I need to apply via a paper firm or is there a way around doing it online?

Thanks,
Gareth.

Hi Gareth,

We can't access accounts on this platform to check. If you want to call us or use the live chat in your account we can check if there's a way to submit this online without having to submit the paper form
