Applying for Warwick PPE and EPP

Anyone thinking/has applied for both of these courses? Would i have a lower chance of being admitted if i apply to both courses, since they are part of the same department and thus admission team? I don't mind using up 2 places on Warwick, so that's by no means an issue.

Given psych and phil are not a world apart, I think you'd be able to write a good personal statement for both and I don't think Warwick discriminate against multiple applications (but I did not check that)

Applying to 2 courses of any university is a no-no. It shows lack of commitment/passion for both subjects, and you come across as indecisive (so yes, lower admissions chances)

Hi! I can't say much around admissions but if you have any questions about the two courses I'm happy to help - currently in my final year of EPP and have had a lot of modules with PPE students.

Best wishes,

I would ring Warwick admissions and ask.

Recently got offered a place for EPP, however not sure yet if I'll take it. Would also like to ask you: How are you enjoying the course? for who would you recommend your course to (in terms of their hobbies and interests outside of school) and how our the lecturers? Are they there for prestige or the love for the subject? Thank you so much an I wish you the best on your final year!

Hi,
Congrats on your offer! I’ve really enjoyed EPP, it’s a very flexible degree with interesting modules and a lot of freedom in how you can tailor the degree.

I’d recommend the course if you think you would enjoy studying a range of different subjects at once. There’s a lot of different skills required in having both the quantitative side as well as the research, essay writing, reading/critical thinking etc (especially in first year when you’re still taking all 3 of the subjects). So in that sense, it’s quite different from doing a single-honours degree such as pure Economics or pure Psychology where you go more in depth in one single area. I personally really like having the range of subjects as it keeps things interesting and doesn’t feel too narrowed down.

Many of my coursemates applied to the course out of an interest in behavioural economics, behavioural science and those kinds of topics bridging the subjects - the 3 subjects are still taught quite independently in first year so you can build up foundations in each, but in the following years you can specialise in any 2 of the 3 and it is a bit more interdiscplinary. In my final year, I’ve gotten to choose almost all of my modules so that’s also been really nice!

The lecturers and teaching have been great too - it is quite different at uni as it’s more independent and you do have to put in your own initiative e.g. going to office hours, asking questions, attending lectures etc but I’ve had some really passionate lecturers, particularly from Philosophy and WBS.

Hope that helps, let me know if you have any other questions!

Best wishes,
Jasmine (Student Ambassador)
