Population Health Science and Data Science

Hey guys, going into Y13 and starting to stress about my UCAS choices lol. I'm really interested in the BSc Population Health Sciences course at UCL. I love the idea of mixing data with healthcare. But I'm also looking at applying to some straight data science courses (like at QMUL or others) as my other options.
My problem is my personal statement. Right now, it's mainly talking about my interest in data science like the coding, stats, and using it to solve problems. I don't have loads of specific "population health" stuff in there yet.
I'm worried that if I apply to UCL PHS, my PS will sound too much like a pure data science statement, and they'll think I'm not that interested in the health part. But if I rewrite it to be all about health, then my data science applications will think I'm not passionate about the core tech.
I'm stuck in the middle 😭 Has anyone been in this situation? What should I do?

Did you also look at https://www.ucl.ac.uk/prospective-students/undergraduate/degrees/business-and-health-bsc? Thought it could be useful to you as you want to mix healthcare and data.

hey im literally applying to the same course lmao! for me, ive known that I always wanted a somewhat health related degree (but not like a frontline worker) and the data science part seems like itd be really useful if i wanted to pivot my career choices (problem is that i dont have a lot of data work experience or anything lol)!! i am struggling to write my personal statement tho, its so hard especially cuz of the new question format lmao. Anyways, i personally think u should exaggerate the data part a lil more - just to be more safe when applying to other data courses so you get accepted to as many unis as possible and have more choice. Good luck!!
