Where is the best university to study History and French?

I want to study History with French but I'm trying to avoid top unis like Oxbridge, Edinburgh, Durham and Warwick because i KNOW i can't get the grades for any of these. I don't want to go to Manchester either because it's too close to home. My top choices are Cardiff and Aberystwyth but I'm not sure about the other 3 choices i need to make.
