How does Warwick allocate accommodation?

They're allocated through a computer ballot which aims to match students to one of their seven choices. Demand for some types of accommodation exceeds supply, which will naturally lead some some students being disappointed. (For example, whilst around 65% of Warwick's accommodation is en suite, demand for it can still exceed capacity.)

What accommodation have you been allocated, and why are you "devastated" by it? I'm not aware of any particularly bad accommodation at Warwick.

The accommodation office offers the ability for some students to switch accommodation - but only if it's available. So you might find that some students are a now-show, allowing you to switch to the accommodation allocated to them. Or you might find that some students want to move into the accommodation you've been allocated, which would allow for a swap. They haven't yet update their web page which discusses this process (it still has 2024/25 all over it), but see Room Moves for details of how this works.

My son didn't get any of his 7 choices for accommodation, and instead now has to go to a 3rd party student hub, all of which seem to be at least 3 miles away in Coventry. To be fair they look good Albany Student Village) so may be an alternative for you if you don't like your choice. We're disappointed with the location, having to bus in and out of campus but they say they are 95% Warwick students and everyone one on my sons floor (8 flats) sharing a kitchen is a Warwick 1st year student.
