What laptop is best for uni?

I’m going Durham university soon and am in the market for a laptop that is going to last me at least 4 years and have good battery life. My budget is £1000 but I’m wondering if I will need software for maths and economics course that might not be available on a MacBook?

What do you suggest?

Get a used high quality business laptop. Thinking HP 830 G8 or a nice ThinkPad. It'll last you the course and beyond. Good prices as well.
