Hi! I'm currently doing a BSc (Hons) in Psychology. I didn't do A Levels, so take my words with a grain of salt, but I did do IFP (International Foundation Programme) at the UOR and entered UG with a scholarship. I took Law, Maths, and Psychology for my subjects.

The subjects depends on the specific A Level requirements for each university, but I recommend doing Maths, Biology, and either Chemistry or Psychology (if that's available for you). The field dives into Biopsychology/Neuroscience, so Biology is a must have if you ask me. Maths is recommended since there's a lot of statistics to understand.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I did Literature during my IGCSEs and that surprisingly helped in pre-uni Psychology, writing academic papers, and general critical thinking. I didn't pursue it for A Levels, but if you'd like to, I'd totally support it. Granted, I had a good teacher. You know yourself best, so trust what you're more into.

As for strengthening your profile, you could some volunteering at care centres. It really depends on what field of psychology you want to go into, but generally, CCAs (that develop your soft skills) and leadership positions are useful no matter the field.

Last of all, don't forget to go your own pace. Don't stress out too much but also remember to lock in. Remember to enjoy the process! Good luck!

Be aware that a degree in Psychology does not make you 'a Psychologist' - you will need an additional Masters/PhD and the career pathway is touch and very competitive - Clinical psychologist job profile | Prospects.ac.uk Most Psych grads will eventually work in career areas that had nothing to do with their degree.

Hey so I know someone else has written a reply on how they didn't take psychology at A-level but I think its a great idea to maybe take it. Since you want to do psychology it's a great idea to get some understanding of different theories and concepts through an A-level. I'm going into year 13 and in year 12 I always scored an A or A* in tests because I find psychology really easy to understand and its just an interesting subject overall (definitely my favourite). Obviously i'm pretty sure you won't need to take it at A-level but its worth looking at what universities want you to study and if you actually want to study them.
