After date with my old teaching assistant I find out he's married
So I met up with my old teaching assistant from school, but after spending the day with him I went on his Facebook and it showed he is married, I confronted him about this and he said he is in the process of getting a divorce, I have agreed to meet him later, do I trust his word?

Well if he's creepy enough to think it's appropriate to date someone he used to have a hand in teaching, I'm not sure what you expected. He's hardly demonstrated exemplary moral character.

Obviously not. You don't need to go far to find many stories of young women and girls who have been given assurances and made promises by older men in marriages that turn out to be lies. The fact that he didn't tell you about this proactively and you confronted him after finding it out is a massive red flag, and also a common theme in these stories. Even if he is telling the truth and is in the process of getting a divorce, your reasonable best case scenario here is that you are a self esteem boost for him, and one that he can take advantage of because of the maturity and power imbalance.
Cut ties with him. There are red flags all over this situation and you're worth more than this.
