should i resit my gcses

I’m turning 18 soon and I decided to retake the whole year 12 in a different school doing completely different subjects. (Will be doing Economics, Business, Philosophy and Sociology)

I want to do Linguistics in Cambridge, I am aiming to get 4A* hopefully. My gcse results were 977655444 which were really bad I know.

Should I work on my A-Levels while resitting English Lang+Lit, 3 Sciences, and Maths to boost my application??

Also any advice on super and extracurriculars pleasseeee? Really appreciated it

Don't do Economics and Business together.

Do Economics, Philsophy and Sociology.

You could resit Maths and English Language as they're the most important grades.

Never resit GCSEs unless you haven't got the minimum required for something. Very few courses/employers care about the detail of GCSEs, and if they do, then they also care that they were taken in one sitting. The same with A levels, unless you completely change subjects.

As above, drop Business, it's less well regarded than Economics, but has too much overlap to be considered a fully separate A level - at least when going for competitive universities.

There is too much overlap in content and Economics is regarded much more highly than the easier Business Studies.

It's not going to boost your application so long as you have the minimum required. All it's going to do is highlight you got a weaker grade first time and erst to get a higher grade. That's not really an accomplishment if you are at the top end of the academic range.
