Unsure on A level choices

I'm a year 12 just starting college and my a level choices are:
Law
English Literature
Psychology

I want to be a lawyer in the near future but I genuinely think that I would rather do maths for a level than English literature as I got a 7 in maths and I got a 5 in english lit and I'm just about okay at essay subjects. I like maths better but I've been told that my 3 current choices are a better combination.

Any tips?

Since there are no required a levels for law ( for most unis, check the requirements first ) you can do whatever a levels you enjoy and still pursue the career you want

i'm in a similar situation i want to be a lawyer. i'm doing law, psychology, and maths because i know i can do better in maths, and for a law degree the subject isn't that important - it's more about getting a high grade. since you got higher at maths gcse, you're probably more likely to do better at maths a level. choose the subject you can study best in, because that's how you'll get a better grade!!

hi there,

there are no specific A-Level requirements for law. One of my friends did history, textiles and business and got into a different uni to Kingston.

Russel Group uni's may have more stricter requirements (Do correct me if I am wrong!) but overall, your A-level choice should be guided by what uni's accept (assuming this is the route you want to go down).

Kind regards, Jenifer (Kingston rep)

If you want to study law at uni, they recommend taking A-Level English Lit, which you can find more info about on most websites. It's not compulsory, but it is likely that most of your peers would have taken it, and thus your essay skills might be sub-par. That said, only do it if you feel you can still get top grades/ the grades you need for your desired course. If anything, the best combination would be English Lit, Maths, and Psych. Law isn't viewed very favourably as an A-Level.
