Hi, I am currently trying to pick my optional module, however when I add my compulsory classes, the timetable compatibility software doesn't match the timetable I have been given. The timetable checker also shows more classes than the programme handbook specifies for optional classes so I am a bit confused and there seems to be clashes with almost anything. I am not sure how to choose my extra module without knowing if there will be clashes or if the timetable checker is correct.

Hey! I might be able to help with this. The reason that the checker shows more classes than what you’ve seen advertised is because it shows all possible seminar/tutorial groups whereas you will only be assigned one, if that makes sense. Not all students attend the same seminars so if it says, for example, that the seminar is on Monday 4-5, Tues 1-2, Weds 9-10, you would only be assigned one of those hours. As long as your key lectures don’t clash, you will likely be assigned to a seminar group that doesn’t clash with your other modules. In short, I wouldn’t worry too much about seminar groups, but rather use the system to make sure your core lectures don’t clash. I hope this helps you! Good luck with everything at Durham.

Me again. On the MyDurham app, my schedule is completely different depending on which section I look at. My Timetable has different lecture times and seminar groups from My Calendar. This is particularly confusing to me because I thought lectures were the entire year group so how are there multiples of the same modules? I would love if you could shed some light onto this, should I be emailing the department?

There's a story on Durfess that St Aidan's and Van Mildert are trying to move 100 undergraduates to Ustinov College due to overbooking. Can the FREPs confirm or deny this?

(Not a frep) I’ve seen people saying they’ve hd accommodation offers for Ustinov buildings (one is called brackenbury, I can’t remember the other).

Does that include undergraduates who were previously informed that they were in St Aidan's or Van Mildert?

It sounds like no one can be totally certain of where they're going to until they've got the room key and paid the deposit?

Very grateful to the Reps for the updates they're very kindly providing.

Do they know if there's similar late college allocation and enrolment problems every year. Or is this year an exception?

I came across a thread from 6 years ago on the student room where people seemed to be experiencing similar issues and weren't receiving emails until early-mid September... so unfortunately it does seem to be reoccurring

Hi! I've accepted my offer for a room, but it doesn't say what the bed size is (single / 3/4 / double). How do I find this out so I know what to pack? Thanks!

You can probably work it out yourself from the costs and supplementary charges that the University had published.

Unfortunately I've already tried this, I have an ensuite which doesn't specify room size.

So work out the base cost for your ensuite, add catering if applicable and if that matches how much they are going to charge you then you have a single bed.
If however they are charging you more, work out the difference which should equate to either the 3/4 or double bed supplement as contained in the hyperlink.
Alternatively ring your college direct tomorrow and they should be able to tell you.
