Durham's Economics programme definitely is one of the most competitive in the university and I completely understand your fear. But I'd say that if Durham is somewhere you want to go, you definitely should apply! The applications team takes so much into consideration when evaluating your application, not only your maths grades. They also take into account everything else in your UCAS application and if you meet the requirements for SL Maths, it's definitely worth trying!

Hey! Also a Durham student here who did the ib - realistically you are not going to get an offer without HL AA Maths especially if you are a home student. However if you are international predicted a 7 in SL maths and have some sort of other very impressive achievement in maths then you might. Tbh though an Econ degree is very very mathsy and if you don’t like maths enough to do it at HL then it probably isn’t the right degree for you - PPE is very popular for people who did AI maths or SL maths x

I would think you have as good a chance as anyone with your grades! I'd say you should definitely apply and make sure to hone your application to show exactly why you'd want to do your subject

Nah I'm a Home student, I was looking more at PPE based degrees with maybe a more watered down maths but still maths degree.
