Withdrawn from course and wanting to continue study

Hello, I have a question regarding continuing my withdrawn study. I am university student who has been withdrawn after failing resit on component in a module of my course, nursing. I have been looking for university near my family within UK to have more support for studying as previously my perform wasn't the best because I struggled to live alone by myself for the first time as a young adult.

From some research I have heard that some university could transfer the credit I have gotten through my study because I finished foundation year along with 1st and 2nd year of nursing. Additionally, I am an international student but part of my family live here in the uk. So are there any advices and option that could be suggested?

Yes it's definitely possible to transfer credits for example some of my friends took Foundation Year at my uni and then transferred to another uni to begin first year. But it's up for specific uni and I think there's a setting for it on UCAS for letting the uni know you want to start at year two. But each uni is different it's possible but it's also possible to be denied and you might need to start again if the courses between your prev uni is too different from your upcoming one.

Hi Haru,
At LSBU, there are usually options for students who have previously studied elsewhere and wish to continue their course, especially in nursing and other professional programmes. Since you’ve already completed a foundation year and the first two years of nursing, it’s worth enquiring about credit transfer or advanced standing entry, which LSBU considers on a case-by-case basis. Because you mentioned that you were withdrawn after failing a resit, the key step would be to contact the Admissions Team ([email protected]) and provide full transcripts of your completed modules so they can review whether your credits can be recognised. As an international student with family support in the UK, LSBU’s location in London might also be helpful since it’s close to diverse communities and strong student support networks, including personal tutors, wellbeing services, and specific guidance for international students.

My advice would be to:

(1) contact LSBU Admissions directly with your academic records ([email protected]),

(2) explain your circumstances, especially how family support here will improve your study environment, and

(3) ask about possible re-entry either into nursing at an advanced stage or into a related health course if direct transfer isn’t possible.

LSBU has a reputation for inclusivity and second chances, so it’s definitely worth exploring your options with them. Also, you can attend our open day to speak to lecturers, which is coming up on the 4th of October LSBU OPEN DAY EVENTS
