Resitting 1st year uni. Need Help

Hi guys

I am a undergraduate student studying Politics and international relations at Royal Holloway. 1st year was a bit of a rough one for me and I am now in a situation where I have to repeat the year. But the thing I am wondering is how I sort out student finance. I am so stressed out, so any advice will help enormously

You have an extra year of student finance for this exact scenario. You will have to change your year of graduation, but otherwise I think you should be ok. Please check the details on your student finance account, and update them to reflect your current situation.

Student finance covers Your total years of study + 1 so you don't have to worry about this year

Thank you so much. Will I need any evidence when I do that?

Resitting first year can feel overwhelming, but it’s not the end of the world. Many students find the second attempt easier because they already know the structure, expectations, and material. The key is reflecting on what went wrong before—whether it was time management, revision techniques, or personal issues—and building a plan around that. Seeking support from tutors can also make a huge difference.

I feel for you, hope you sort the financial side. I had to resit exams a long time ago but took time out to improve language skills. I found uni counselling encouraging as nearly did not resit as the curriculum changed. I did pass so do not give up. I'm sure you will be fine. Good luck
