Do you know, I'm starting to think that it's becoming a rite of passage for educational establishments to have timetabling issues every September. And when I say issues, I mean chaos and mayhem and I expect a lot of stress for both teachers and students alike. When I did my undergraduate degree (just finished it) timetabling issues were an absolute nightmare. My first year wasn't too bad but the problems associated with a new system in my second year were on a completely different level.
So now I'm seeing it from a parental point of view which in some ways is worse because I'm desperate that things are absolutely right and as they should be for my daughter. Anyway she's come home from her first day back at school today and she has a GCSE subject completely missing from her timetable. But that's not all. Other pupils in her year aren't timetabled for any of their options. Like full stop. Honestly I don't know how teachers and lecturers cope because it really is all completely bonkers and I'm sure they're not paid enough to be dealing with all of that stress.
