Message to the Universities Still Offering the Physician Associate Course

1. Why haven't you changed the title to Physician Assistant Course?
2. Why are you telling blatant lies in the Course Overview and not explaining the new roles of the Physician Assistant clearly?
3. Why haven't you explained to prospective students that the outlook for jobs is very bleak for this role and that the past two cohorts have struggled to find jobs and the new cohort will struggle even more?
4. Why are you charging 20K to poor students for this dead end course?
5. Why are you still running this course?

YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED. YOU ARE GREEDY, UNETHICAL CROOKS.

Anyone starting this course in 2025 - you still have time. GET OUT NOW AND FIND SOMETHING USEFUL

Because they’re greedy and don’t care . Perhaps once students start suing them they’ll come to their senses

Universities themselves have been badly let down by successive governments, who haven't put in enough money into recruitment in the NHS. Universities have spent time and money hiring academics, and developing the PA course. If they don't deliver the course, they would have to make these academics redundant. Then if later on it turns out that PAs are going to be recruited by the NHS after all, it may be difficult to backtrack and restart the course anytime soon.

The best action for now is for potential students of this course to wait a few years before applying, to see if new job vacancies increase to match the demand.

Academics ? Many PA lecturers are recently qualified PAs. I’ve seen PAs go straight into lecturing immediately after qualifying .
The course content can’t be the same. The title and content has to change . The unis should be honest with prospective students and pause all courses at least for this September Intake . The unis continue to lie on their websites about a high demand for PAs and good career prospects when there are barely any jobs out there and GP practices are steadily letting PAs go

I am not referring just to PA courses taught by weak universities like De Montford or Uni of East London. A lot of excellent universities like Birmingham and Manchester also run the course.

And yet they still allow inexperienced PAs to teach . Aston has now changed the course title to assistant . The course leader is one of the original people who set up the course in the U.K. . I’m sure that more will follow . I can think of better things to spend £22k on to be honest .
