Missing the first week of 3rd year
Due to a mix of dates between family members I’m due to go on holiday during my first week of the 3rd year of my course. It’s a media based course with 5 lectures a week. All lectures will be available online. Is it a bad idea to miss the first week or will I be fine going on holiday and catching up on lectures whilst abroard?

Have you let your lecturers/department know that you’ll be off?
Probably worth telling them to see if they’ll be ok with it or to at least give a heads up.

Yeah it might something worth asking the university about regardless (if it’s a good idea to go) especially given that it’s a holiday.

Hi there,
I would agree that the best thing to do would be to email your tutor or course leader just to let them know that you will be missing the first week but will catch up. If all lectures are available online, you can catch up with them and you should be fine.
However, I'm not sure if your uni will have specific rules about this but I am sure if you let them know and make sure you catch up with anything that needs to be done, you will be fine.
Going forward, just try to get to as many classes as you can and ask your tutors if you ever miss anything or need any help and I am sure the will help you and it will be fine.
