Additional maths at GCSE?

Hey, so I’ve just started yr 11 and have been offered eduqas additional maths. I’m not sure whether I should take it as i feel like i just got in by the skin of my teeth (predicted an 8) and don’t even rly wanna do maths for a level. However, would this still be good to show I’m a hard worker (i think i wanna go into law) and good for my uni application or should i not bother as i rly worry it will pull down my other grades which i rly don’t want.

Ps. Even if you’re not sure plssss could u reply because I think I need to make my decision really soon.
Thank you xx

honestly i dont think you need it, im taking maths alevel and turned down the further maths gcse bc it was just totally useless, its just an introduction to maths alevel. in your case its even more useless as u arent gonna take maths alevels. theres so many ways to show youre a hard worker without pulling your other grades down and doing a subject, which might be better suited to your course (eg doing a MOOC on law or doing a research project on a case you found interesting) things which are low stakes and unis care about wayyyyyyyyy more than additional maths

if you aren't going to do a level maths it's really not worth it!! focus on getting good grades in your other gcses (especially essay subjects like english) because that's much more important right now - no point wasting time and efforts on additional maths!!

Thank you so much for replying, it rly helped! In terms of the MOOC thank u for mentioning it because I didn’t actually know that existed. Do you know whether you’re still able to put it on uni applications if you don’t have the certificate because you have to pay so much to get one or are there any ways around this? Thanks xx
