Diagnostic Radiography

I’m a year 13 planning to apply for diagnostic radiography or pharmacy at Liverpool University. For my ucas statement how specific do I make it to a course when i’m also planning on applying for optometry somewhere else too? Should I only apply to similar courses so my personal statement doesn’t seem messy?

Also for pharmacy for UoL it says they won’t accept those who get lower than a B in chemistry, does this apply even for people with a WP 2 grade reduction (Liverpool scholars)?

And how competitive is getting accepted into Diagnostic Radiography at Liverpool? Is there any specific work experience I should definitely do?

DR is competitive at Liverpool. Ideally you need to choose one subject to apply for and focus on that. Unis like to see that you have shadowing experience so that you understand the role of a DR, and you need to have public-facing work/volunteering experience to show that you can deal with future patients. Your work/volunteering experience doesn't need to be in healthcare - work in a supermarket, charity shop, cafe, care home, etc. will count. Learn the NHS values and six Cs and relate your work experience to them in your PS and at interview. You only need a day of shadowing experience but it can be hard to organise so contact your local hospitals as soon as you can.

Pharmacy is a very chemistry-based degree so a B will be required so that you can successfully complete the degree.

Liverpool prefer shadowing experience for DR. One day is enough. My friend spent a day in the A and E Xray department to get the experience. She is loving the course BTW (and Liverpool).
