Hi there!

I am a third year Cyber Security student at De Montfort University. This field is demanding and requires continuous learning, as the industry evolves rapidly. A university degree, such as the one in Cyber Security, provides you with essential foundational knowledge. A successful business will also require deep expertise and a strong understanding of industry trends. Many cybersecurity entrepreneurs find their niche in consulting, offering specialised services that address the evolving threats and challenges businesses face. Starting now by immersing yourself in the field, even with limited resources, is a proactive step toward building the knowledge and network that will be crucial for your future business.
Feel free to join us at DMU: Cyber Security BSc (Hons)- with optional placement year.
You will have access to DMU business and investments societies, together with DMU Entrepreneurship resources and Career Advice Centre. We also have a DMU Innovation Centre which hosts dozens of networking and business events with local business and industry leaders.

We will be happy to see you on campus!
Ilya,
Cyber Security student at DMU

It’s a good dream. Let's go through the details.

You want to start a cybersecurity company? What services would you provide? Wouldn’t most of your customer base like a tech company already have an in house cyber security manager? Would they trust an external company?

Seven figures would be difficult but not impossible. You might need to relocate to more lucrative locations like Silicon Valley?

I’m pretty sure most cyber security specialists work for a big company as opposed to starting their own. However it could be an untapped market.
Perhaps you should get a degree in business management to have skills others wont?
