iPad at A-Levels

I’ve just started my A-Level courses, and I’ve bought an iPad a few weeks prior to me starting. I’ve also bought a notebook, just for a bit of physical note taking. The question I’m asking is, how exactly do I ask my teachers if I’m able to use my iPad in class to take my notes digitally. I’m also unsure if my sixth form would really allow me to use my iPad for notes, but they allow it during free periods and etc. but I’m stuck on how I ask. Do I just, bring it into class unmentioned and start taking notes? Or do I ask them beforehand if I can bring it in to do notes?

At the beginning of class just take it out and if your teacher questions just say you prefer to take notes digitally if that's okay, when I started at my sixth form none of my teachers took a second look, but if it's an overall policy to not use in lessons at your school there's no point - but most sixth forms allow tbh just make it obvious your not messing around on it
