Warwick but low GCSE?

Hey guys, I’m currently studying computer science, business and design technology predicted at AAB along with an A* EPQ artefact where I engineered a sustainable mechanical product. I want to apply for the fairly new undergraduate 2026 course “design for sustainable innovation” at the University of Warwick. I meet the a level requirement, I’m extremely motivated to study this course at Warwick, I have partaken in directly related super curricular activities such as the industrial cadets gold award where I was the project manager of my team but on the page for the course it states that the entry requirements need a 6 in English language but I received just one grade short of a 5. I want to hear your thoughts, both logical and realistic so that I can gain a clear understanding of what to do next and my chances of being considered. Thank you

This new course at Warwick looks really good. Your A level grades and EPQ sound strong, and your activities also fit the course well.

About the GCSE English, Warwick is usually strict as it is a university rule. It may be a condition you must meet. I think you should email or call admissions to ask directly. Sometimes they may still consider students who are one grade below, but it is not guaranteed.

I would still apply if you really want this course, but also keep some other choices on UCAS to be safe.

Good luck.
