Student Maintenance Loan Question - having more finance in 1st term

Wondering if anybody will have any experience or an answer for this. In short, I want to know if there's any way to move or adjust how much maintenance loan you get in each term.

For example I'm getting roughly $1,600 per term, but was wondering if I could request to move some of my loan from my last term to my first time. So if I could have £2,100 in my first time, £1,600 in my second term and £1,100 in my last term instead. Would appreciate any replies! I'll likely make a call to SFE to enquire but it takes quite a while to get through to anybody so figured I'd ask here first!

Hi there,

We can't change the specific payment amounts in that way, unfortunately.

If you're in financial hardship you can ask our Hardship team to potentially bring a payment forward. If that's something you'd like to do login to your account and send us a live chat there.

Thanks, Graeme
