GYG for Year 12: TIME TO LOCK IN (Week 1 & 2 Update: Settling Into Sixth Form)

Heyy everyone 🌙

So I’ve officially survived my first week of Year 12 (and now I’m in the middle of Week 2). Honestly… it’s been a lot. Not in a bad way, but definitely a big shift from GCSEs.

📖 Subjects Check

Economics 💸 – actually enjoying it so far! It’s a nice mix of maths-y problem solving and essay writing. Teacher keeps saying “apply real-world examples” so I’m trying to keep up with the news.

Maths ➗ – the jump is real 😭. It’s so much faster than GCSE. I know I’ll need to keep practicing every single week or I’ll drown.

Geography 🌍 – feels familiar from GCSE, but the topics go way deeper. Human is super interesting; physical is already looking intense.

Further Maths ➕ (taster) – still debating if I want the extra workload… it’s helpful, but I don’t want to die from stress this year lol.

🌸 Wins from Week 1

Got through all my lessons without feeling totally lost ✨

Stayed on top of homework (which is a miracle compared to GCSE me 💀)

Actually talked to new people in my classes — making friends already 🫶 (Although there are some girls who were kinda mean)

😭 Lows from Week 1

Maths questions sometimes had me staring at the page like it was in another language.

My sleep schedule = still tragic.

I’m naturally pretty unorganised, and the train strikes are making it worse — late starts, rushing around, and I already feel like I’m playing catch-up.

🎯 Week 2 Goals

Do at least 1 past paper question a day for Maths (little and often).

Keep folders neat and up to date — no loose sheets floating around (pls someone keep me accountable).

Start Econ flashcards for all the key definitions piling up.

Go out and ride my bicycle this week, even if I’m tired.

Fix travel routine so the train strikes don’t completely ruin my schedule.

That’s pretty much it for now! I’m unorganised by nature, and with the train strikes on top of that, it already feels like a juggling act 😂. But I’m glad I’ve started off better than GCSE me, so hopefully I can keep the consistency going through Week 2.
