Chemistry timetable at Reading University

Hi,

My daughter has to make her final decision today on which uni to study chemistry. Does anyone have the chemistry timetable for this year they can share please? She can't access it yet on Ucas and it will be the final thing that helps her decide. Thank you!

Good afternoon,

Generally speaking, timetabling tends to vary between year groups, but sessions are always timetabled between 9 am and 6 pm (Sometimes sessions can be outside of these times, e.g. placements and trips ).

Students are expected to be available Monday-Friday between 9 am and 6 pm. But students will always have some breaks and gaps in their timetables for their own revision and personal time.

In my experience in the department of biological sciences, in year one, I had two free days a week, and eight two-hour lectures spread over three days. This left me plenty of time for assignments and revision whilst being able to attend societies in the evening. In year two, I had 1 day free a week with 6-12 one and two-hour lectures, including practicals. In year three, I will have 2 days free every two weeks and 1 day free every other week. Then i have 6-8 lecturres an week and practicals sessions, plus a dissertation to do in my own time. The timetables will vary between courses.

There is an ambassador scheme at the University of Reading where prospective students can message current students; you can find more information here.

If you have any questions, please let us know.
