Are there any competitions for A level Maths retake students

Hi everyone

I'm retaking A level maths this year and because I don't have any experience entering/winning a maths competition for my UCAS personal statement, I want to do one now during my retake year to make my application stand out. The problem is that almost all maths comeptitions for a level year are for under 18s so Idk what to do. Does anyone have any suggestions of any competitions that I can enter?

What degree subject are you thinking of applying for?

You don't need to do a 'competition' - few, if any, Unis are actually interested in this sort of stuff. If everyone does it, it doesn't actually tell them anything individual about you or your potential for Maths at degree level.

They will be far more interested in relevant reading and other evidence that you are already studying/thinking beyond A levels. A list of suggestions from Cambridge (good for all Unis) - reading-list.pdf. This might also be useful - mathcentre.ac.uk

Moocs - free short online courses from sensible Unis -
Introduction to Mathematical Thinking | Coursera
Introduction to Calculus | Coursera
Fibonacci Numbers and the Golden Ratio | Coursera
etc
