Which courses would be best to take if I have an interest in helping young people after being convicted of a crime?

Hey Leah Alberts,

That’s a really thoughtful career interest! If you’d like to work with young people who’ve been convicted of a crime, there are a few courses at The University of Law that could be a great fit. 💯

Criminology explores the causes of crime, how the justice system works, and the ways society can support rehabilitation.

Policing, which looks at the law enforcement side and working directly with communities, could be a strong option.

Law can open routes into youth justice, advocacy, or even working with charities that support young offenders.

Psychology will allow you to understand behaviour and mental health is really valuable if you’d like to support young people with rehabilitation and second chances.

ULaw doesn’t usually require specific A-level subjects, so you can apply from a range of academic backgrounds. I’d recommend joining an open day to learn more about our courses and see which feels like the best path for your goals.

Please feel free to look at the undergraduate courses we have available in the meantime.

Best wishes,

Jess 😊
