Psychology

Psychology is not an exact science, and not even the courts can define what is normal for simple reason that people are individuals. What may be considered normal for ony may not be normal for another. Hence, it is an open that cannot be measured or considered a science. It is also open to bias and prejudice be each individual professional, whom can and had destroyed lives. How can it and/or pschiatry be considered a science, especially in light of some Mental Health Hospitals being shut down for abuse by staff on patients?

I did my MSc (conversion) in Psychology and this is a question that we ask all the time - have you considered studying Psychology?

Psychology is a very broad church with many different perspectives, certainly Neuro-Psychology is a lot more scientific in that it studies the functions of the brain and the link to the body and thought processes. The scientific method, positivism, is applied to behaviour to try and calculate a statistical average in terms of behaviour with what is called a 'bell curve' - I doubt I would ever be anywhere near the centre of that, and most psychologists are very critical of labelling people at the further reaches of the scale. It is a fascinating debate, I am very critical of the medicalisation of society - you might like the work of Ivan Illich.

If you did want to study an accredited Psychology course, there are some great programs at Arden University
