Physics foundation year.

Hello. I am year 13 currently studying physics , chemistry and biology. I really hope to pursue physics at university level , but due to not having maths i will have to do a foundation year. I want to know
- is year zero content basically a recap if A-level or does it go beyond a level content?
- do employers care if you did a foundation year?
- is it worth it? Or is it better to pick up A-level maths and stay an extra year 6form

Any information regarding experiences and opinions on foundation years (physics) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The foundation year covers the key maths and science needed for Physics; it goes beyond just A-level recap to prepare you for Year 1. Employers focus on your final degree, so having a foundation year will not affect job prospects. Both the foundation year and taking A-level Maths are valid options; it depends on which route works best for you.

1) What is covered depends on that Uni and what is then covered in Year 1 of their main degree - ie. what standard are they trying to get you to so that you can start Year 1 of their degree.

2) No-one will know that you did the Foundation Year - it won't be mentioned on the degree certificate.

3) Just remember that a Foundation year is not a 'qualification' that you can use at any other University, so you are tied in to completing your whole degree at that University. If you want more freedom about where you complete your degree, then retaking A levels and applying to 5 new choices for Year 1 entry will always be a better choice.
