Hey everyone!

How are you all feeling? Is anyone applying for any courses with an early deadline (October 15th)? It’s a week to go, so just wanted to check in and see how you're feeling 😄

If you need some help with your personal statement, we have a whole forum dedicated to your questions (just don't post any part of your statement!), and some example statements in our PS library.

What are your main questions?

If you're not applying early, have you started looking around at booking any open days yet? If so, how are they going? Have you visited Birmingham yet?

Good luck everyone :woo:

Yeah they gave me a standard offer (AAA) and also an alternative one (AAB + A in EPQ) cuz of my EPQ. However, I have to make Birmingham my firm in order for that offer to apply. It did tell me on the website what offers I should expect to get so I knew that was going to be my alternative offer. I wouldn’t worry too much they’re not responding now because typically less unis respond during the Christmas break. Ur most likely gonna start hearing back from unis again around January. Good luck

When I applied a little while ago, it took just under 2 weeks for me to hear back, but I imagine you won't hear anything until they come back for Christmas now

I’m planning to apply for 2026 as well. I’m doing A-levels in Maths, Physics and Further Maths, and I’m mainly looking at engineering at Birmingham. Predicted grades are around A*AA, GCSEs were mostly 8s and 9s. Birmingham stood out because of its reputation, campus, and the fact it’s a proper student city without being overwhelming. I’m hoping to attend an open day later this year to get a better feel for the place. Feeling a mix of excited and nervous about starting uni tbh. Also looking at places like Bristol, Sheffield and Nottingham at the moment.

Hi! I am an Indian student. I wish to apply for a course in Computer Science and AI. We do not have A-levels here. I am doing 12th grade in CBSE Board and my predicted grades are:
Physics- 93, Chemistry- 96, Mathematics- 96, Computer Science- 98, English Core- 98.
I have done a few projects related to it:
1. Lead my hackathon team to the National Finals.
2. Created a Student's performance prediction using python, SQL and ML.
3. Created a chatbot - an AI-based study planning tool that generates personalised schedules.
4. Attended University of Brighton's Summer School in Computing (online).
I just wanted to know my chances of getting accepted. Also, if scholarships will be available (fees for international student is too high😭🥲)

yeah i’m almost 100% certain you do - open days are for anyone, i believe, whereas offer holder days are specifically hosted by subject departments for the people they’ve given offers to
