Hey, im currently looking at newcastle and I am considering doing the foundation year in Engineering and then moving into their brand new aerospace engineering course!

Is it risky to take a brand new course? If so are there any tips as someone has to be first obviously

That's a good idea😃👍🏻

Since you'll be among the very first students, you won't get people from older years for ask for advice or reviews. You won't have a clear cut idea about whether it's Fully aligned with job market needs...tho new courses are usually designed to match the new trends or upcoming industry skills,Id suggest go and ask at open days about industry link or internships.

Hi @nrLoolee,

Newcastle and the North East has a long and rich history of engineering research and innovation which you can find out about here.

Whilst our Aerospace Engineering undergraduate degrees are launching in September 2026, we have already been teaching roughly 80% of a typical Aerospace degree for many years.

To enquire about how the School of Engineering are preparing to deliver these degrees please contact: [email protected]

Good afternoon, I’m an aspiring pharmacist who sat his a levels last summer and achieved grades BCC. I am currently studying the science extended degree foundation year offered by the university of Huddersfield. However I’m interested in studying pharmacy at NCL and I am eligible for the partners programme but my achieved grade is one grade under the partners offer, is it still worth applying given my circumstances?

You need to speak to admissions as foundation years are not usually accepted by other unis - they are designed for you to be able to progress to the degree course at the same university. Why not study pharmacy at Huddersfield? Future employers won't care where you studied the degree.

Hi,

To check if we would consider your foundation programme for our Pharmacy MPharm Honours programme, please fill in our enquiry form and provide the following:

· A copy of your foundation transcript showing the modules studied and any grades obtained/predicted
· A copy of the syllabus showing the content taught in each module of your foundation programme.

Please also include details of all the qualifications that you have achieved so far, including:

· The name of the qualification (e.g. A level, BTEC, GCSE)
· The subjects/units covered
· The grades achieved and the year awarded.

Within your enquiry please confirm that you are eligible to apply through the PARTNERS Programme.

What is the likely score cutoff (/100) for an interview for medicine at Newcastle?

What is the likely score cutoff (/100) for an interview for medicine at Newcastle?

Hi, thanks for getting in touch

We are unable to advise on the likely academic score required for interview as the academic score required for interview changes depending on the scores of all applicants who apply to us in the 2025/26 admissions cycle.

We can advise though that the academic score required for interview last year was 50 out of 100 for all applicants, including contextual and PARTNERS applicants, however it is unlikely that the threshold will stay the same this year due to the threshold being dependent on the applicants who apply to us in each admissions cycle.

Hope this helps

Hi @yousif mahmoud, thanks for getting in touch

Unfortunately our Medical Admissions Team have not reported the threshold required for an offer for entry into the 2025 academic year.

Alright thank you anyway

Around what time can we expect to know if we will be invited to interview or not

And around what time are offers/rejections likely to come post-interview

Last year it was 50 out of 100 points.

Do you think it is possible it is going up? I’ve heard Newcastle usually takes really high UCAT scorers like above 7th decile, but I only got 1920 (56th percentile), which gets me 12 points, and my GCSEs I think gets me 40 if it’s the top 8 GCSEs, unless they require Eng lang or Eng lit, in which I had a grade 8. So I would be 52 or maybe 51, which would be above last year’s cutoff. I also got B1 but I think that only helps at interview stage?
Hey everyone!

How are you all feeling? Is anyone applying for any courses with an early deadline (October 15th)? It’s a week to go, so just wanted to check in and see how you're feeling 😄

If you need some help with your personal statement, we have a whole forum dedicated to your questions (just don't post any part of your statement!), and some example statements in our PS library.

What are your main questions?

If you're not applying early, have you started looking around at booking any open days yet? If so, how are they going? Have you visited Newcastle yet?

Good luck everyone :woo:

Hi @yousif mahmoud, thanks for getting back in touch

No specific date has been set yet as to when invites to interview will be sent out for our Medicine and Surgery programme, but we expect it to be from the end of November, with interviews taking place in December and January. Please note that invites to interview are often sent out in batches so please do not be concerned if you do not receive an invite to interview straight away.

In terms of decisions on applications, these are typically sent out in March or April.

Hope this helps
