Hi @izzycookes

If, when your A Level results are released, you do not quite meet your offer conditions, we will consider you a ‘near-miss’ applicant. In this scenario, all applicants who met their offer conditions would receive their place. For any places we have left over, we will reconsider all ‘near-miss’ applicants and look to place the most promising applicants.

‘Near-miss’ applicants are considered for any remaining places on their course during a process called Confirmation, which takes before A Level Results Day. When applicants log onto UCAS Hub on A Level Results Day, they will know if they have been accepted onto the course that they applied for, even if they were considered as a ‘near-miss’ applicant.

Hi , I am aware the first batch of interview invites got send for medicine undergrad, can you share how many students you have send interviews to in just the first batch ? And Approximately how long is the difference between the batches ( i.e do you send interviews every 2 weeks ? 3 weeks ? )

I thought my stats were quite strong but I haven't recieved any interviews so a bit stressed now :/

For PARTNERS my application is currently waiting for a referee review, by what date do I need to have it reviewed? Is it the Jan 21st deadline or is there a later one for referees?

Hi, may I ask when would Newcastle send interview invitations/rejections to overseas students apply Medicine. I am aware that some home students have already received interview and I am quite nervous about whether my UCAT score overpass the cut-off line.

Hi Anonymous,

Apologies about your wait for a response.

It is not specified that an A grade is needed in Chemistry. The standard entry requirements for our Pharmacy MPharm Honours programme for 2026 entry are:

AAB at A Level including Chemistry and at least one of Biology, Mathematics or Physics at A Level and excluding Critical Thinking and General Studies. For Biology, Chemistry and Physics A Levels we require a pass in the practical element. Mathematics and English Language both required at GCSE, minimum grade C or 4, if not offered at A or AS Level. Offers are made subject to satisfying fitness to practise conditions.

Applicants will also be required to undertake an online interview as part of the process.

Hi Anonymous,

Thank you for your interest in our Speech and Language Therapy BSc Honours programme!

We do not interview for entry on to this programme. The standard entry requirements for 2026 entry are:

AAB at A Level, normally including one of the core sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics). If a candidate is not sitting any of the core sciences at A Level, we will consider other profiles, e.g., students with Psychology A-level. In these cases, applicants would need strong performance in a core science at AS Level (B or above) or at GCSE level (7 or above) . The candidate would still require AAB in their chosen A-levels. For Biology, Chemistry and Physics A Levels, we require a pass in the practical element. General Studies not accepted as a full A Level. GCSE Mathematics and English required (minimum grade B or 6) if not offered at a higher level.

When considering an application our Admissions Team will look at predicted A level grades, but they will also take into account an applicant's entire application profile. This may include:

personal statement

school or college reference

evidence of relevant skills or aptitude

any special circumstances/contextual factors

Hi Anonymous,

Please be reassured that just because you haven't heard back yet doesn't necessarily mean you won't be invited to interview.

The interview invites for our Medicine and Surgery MB BS programme are being sent out in batches throughout December and January. We are aiming for all applicants to have 2 weeks notice before their interview slot 😊

To enquire further, please contact our MB BS Admissions Team directly via: [email protected]

Hi @nrLoolee

There isn't a set deadline but we would advise as soon as possible. The sooner your Referee can verify your PARTNERS application the sooner our PARTNERS Team can process it ☺️

Hi @wmhwu,

Applications from applicants classed as international for fees purposes will be processed separately from home students so the interview invitations will go out separately too.

We expect that these interviews will happen in late January/early February. They will be conducted by a panel of two interviewers either on campus or by video conference if this is more convenient.

Thanks for your reply! Hopefully would get updates from Newcastle in Early/Mid January.

Received today an unconditional offer for Newcastle’s Mplan, so pleased as I loved the uni when I visited the recent open day.
