System error on SFE

I sent my SFE application in many weeks ago and have been checking for an update on my account each week, still says processing.

Today I have called them and they have told me that on the 5th September is recognised a system error and has now been passed to one team who can not fix it and now to another. I start my course next week and I am concerned I won’t have funding in place especially the childcare element of the application and won’t be able to start my course.

Does anyone know what this system error is and how long it may take to resolve, I’m so stressed.

Hi Loud8787,

I am sorry that you have experienced a system error. I am glad it has been sent to the right team, the system errors team will be doing everything they can to resolve this for you. As it is an unexpected error and not a process, there isn't a timescale, it will just be as soon as it is fixed. The best thing to do is monitor your account and email, they will contact you and update you as soon as this is fixed for you.

Thanks Clare. Is this something that will be expected to be resolved in the near future and not months and months as I have planned hard to be able to start my studies this academic year and without the funding I will not be able to do this.

Hi there, the team will be looking into this and aiming to get this resolved as soon as they can. With errors, however we are unable to confirm a timescale. You can always set up 'Consent to Share' to allow the university consent to contact us so they are aware of the current issue

I am now starting to worry as I have spoke with student finance again on Friday to be told the same it is with a team to be replaced and no timescale. I am a single parent dependent on student finance for when my course commences on Monday. It feels unfair that I may have to cancel me studies due to this, surely this can’t be right.

I have been told that if it is not resolved by the time my course starts I can request a manual payment, can someone confirm that this is the case as I am getting pretty desperate.

Hi there,

The team will be trying to resolve the system error as quickly as possible. If the team can't fix the system error then manual payments should be set up for you. I would suggest letting the university know the situation and what you have been advised to keep them in the loop.
