kcl academic appeal chances

i’m on the music course and i recently sat my performance recital after being totally screwed all term time by the uni, they didn’t give me a personal teacher for my instrument until mid march, with my recital being delayed till september. i was also given 168 days to prepare for this exam compared to other students during term time having 238, leaving me at a significant disadvantage and not doing well in my recital due to being drastically underprepared with 3 of my 9 lessons being rescheduled by my teacher, meaning i didn’t have a consistent learning schedule. they also penalised me for using backing tracks during the exam instead of an accompanist playing piano for me, which was impossible for me to arrange as i don’t have the money for someone private, and other students during term time asked other people on the course for help, however i couldn’t do that either because it was the end of term and everyone was on holiday. i’ve sent an appeal to the head of the module now 1 full day ago, with no response, but what do you think my odds are? i’m currently sat at 46.6 marks (not sure if they round that 0.6 up or not) but i need 50 marks overall to proceed to stage 2 of the module. do you think they will let me pass without prejudice or will they make me resit the exam? i already know i wont get a remark as they do not believe in them which in my opinion is ridiculous.

I think your case has some good points, especially around the late allocation of a teacher, less prep time, and unfair penalisation for using backing tracks.
Unis usually only overturn decisions if there’s clear procedural failure or evidence of unfair treatment snd you seem to have solid examples of both as long as you made it clear with evidence.
It’s probably likely they’ll offer a resit, if your mark is close to the pass mark (like yours is). But that’s still better than failing outright.

Outcones depend on the regs at your institution. Where I work, if an appeal is upheld then they might just defer the mark and give you the pass credits, which I guess would be a good outcome. Where I work and in these circumstances, a resit on appeal would be unlikely unless they offer it as a first sit, and here that'd also be unlikely because of the nature of your complaints.

Your student union should be able to guide you on this - have you sought their help?

In terms of the appeal actually being upheld, we can't say for sure, but in my experience these points if accurate are really textbook unfair/biased behaviour. Where I work I think the odds of it being upheld would be quite good.

Not my field of expertise at all but it does appear, as the OP outlines events, to be a prima facie case of unequal treatment at least. I would second the advice of gfd800 above and seek the support of the student union, since it’s likely they’ve been involved with similar prior circumstances.
Pretty sure @stiffybyng will have value to add on this.
