Is it possible for me to do a foundation year with good grades in a levels but low GCSEs? Cause I’m assuming the point of foundation year is for people who failed their alevels

Honestly it depends on the university. Most universities don’t really care much about GCSEs as long you have passed but some have their own requirements so u will have to check the website.

A foundation year is built for students who didn’t achieve the grades they needed to do the course.

You need to meet the GCSE requirements for the unis you are applying to. They are mandatory and if you don't meet them it will be an automatic rejection. For DR, maths and English and usually science GCSEs are required but you need to check the grades for each uni as they do vary. Look at the Entry Requirements section on the course page on uni websites. If you don't meet the grades for some of your GCSEs, ask your school if you can do retakes.

You still need A levels for a foundation year, but unis usually accept lower grades for them. The GCSE requirements for the course will still be mandatory as they are minimum standard required for you to be successful on the degree course.

Are the science GCSEs required by the unis you want to apply to? Do you meet the entry requirements for the foundation year courses? If it's not clear on the website, email admissions and ask.
