Plymouth dentistry 5th choice

I'm considering putting Dentistry at Plymouth as my 5th choice (along with 4 med schools). I have heard that they don't read the personal statement so that's why I picked them. I think Bristol and Manchester might also be the same, but I feel like I have the highest chance of an offer at Plymouth. Can anyone verify this (about the PS) or has got a dentistry offer as a med applicant?
Do you want to be a doctor or a dentist?

It is not a good idea to do this and you would be better to put down a different subject

As above. Its not a consolation prize because you couldn't get a place for Med. Regardless of 'reading the PS', how are you going to get through an MMI for Dentistry. And, if your 5th choice is supposed to be your Insurance, picking another competitive course with the same grades as Medicine is obviously fairly silly.

I'd suggest that instead you look at allied subjects like :
Undergraduate | School of Cellular and Molecular Medicine | University of Bristol
or something entirely different - Law, undergraduate courses : University of Sussex

I appreciate that it's probably even more competitive than medicine but for now I am just considering all my options and I don't really see myself in any other course other than med or maybe dent (as I would then take a gap year and reapply if I received no offers). I have also seen that students in previous years have got interviews and offers from Plymouth in a similar situation as me, so I was just looking for verification on this. Thanks

You don't need to put a 5th choice at all in that case - that's perfectly fine also. That way you also aren't having to distract yourself by preparing for a completely different dentistry interview potentially as well. Just apply to 4 med choices.

Hi there, glad to hear you are interested in applying to study at Plymouth 🙂

Although I don't study the course, I'd be happy to help answer any questions you might have about the university, city or student life, so feel free to reach out if you need any help!

Best of luck! 🙌
