A level combo for neuroscience

I chose biology chemistry and English/lit lang as my A levels. Can I go into neuroscience with these options. I got most 6s and a 7 in science and English language in my GCSEs and I’m resitting maths for a higher grade preferably aiming for an 8/7. Are these okay?? Also would it be better to change English into Dt (product design)??

Your combo is fine

Just check the entry requirements for the degree subject you are interested in on a range of different Uni websites - both A level subjects and any specific GCSE grades. Most will only specify one or two science subjects for Neuro and if there is no 'preferred' 3rd subject stated, it can literally be anything, all they are interested in this grade.

Marketing legislation means that Universities have to be totally up-front about what is required for entry - they cannot have secrets that only some people know about or invent extra 'filters' that they are not admitting on the course page. So, DT is not going to give you any more advantage than taking Textiles or Sociology or whatever. Stick with English.

Hi there,

I took these exact A-levels and have a degree in Medical Biology and a masters in pharmaceutical science. You subject combo should be fine as you have two science A-Levels. I do know someone that did biomedical science with A-levels in Biology, History and French at another uni. As your degree falls within life sciences, having biology is good as it is the core of a life sciences degree, and chemistry will compliment it well especially as you start to learn about chemical reactions in the body. Just double check uni requirements at the uni’s you want to go to!

Kind regards, Jenifer (Kingston rep)
