GCSE entry requirements for med

Just wondering if meeting the exact entry requirements for Med is good enough? Specifically looking at GCSE's, is reaching the entry requirements but having strong stats in A-Levels and UCAT okay? I have heard you only need to meet the entry requirements and then they do not look at GCSEs, depending on the Uni, although I'm not sure if this is true.

Some unis only require you to hit their required minimum level of GCSE and after that they don't consider them further, you are right, for some, meeting the exact requirements in GCSE is enough. Most med schools determine who to interview based on UCAT score, so that is more important than GCSEs, once you have met their minimum requirements. The med school seem to all score applicants differently, so you need to look at what the schools you're interested in score to work out if you're in with a chance or not. If your GCSEs only meet the minimum requirements then avoid the GCSE scoring schools as you're unlikely to score high enough to be shortlisted for interview, even with a good UCAT. Loads of people on here can advise you once you have UCAT, predicted A levels and any contextual data.
