Where can I study GCSE Edexcel Maths and Chemistry online (retakes)?

Hey!

I did my GCSE Exams in Edexcel Chemistry and Maths in 2023 and achieved grade 5s in both. I've just finished A levels and I am now taking a gap year to retake both subjects to get onto my desired university course.

I don't remember much, and since I'm doing it in a year I want to invest in an online course to help structure my learning and make sure that I cover everything in enough detail. I've been told by my local college that I can't do an in person course since I have to be 19 to do part time courses.

Can anyone help me and make some suggestions for courses that look promising/worked for them when studying online? I've found a GCSE Maths one on ICS Learn for £290 that seems useful! Does anyone have experience with that platform?

I'm really struggling to find online courses for GCSE Edexcel Chemistry.

Thanks so much for your help!

I wouldn’t bother with the online courses, I bought a maths GCSE one and barely used it - I printed the spec out & used the maths gcse tutor videos and got a 7 (I left school in 2008 with a C) - after that experience with the online courses seeming useless, I printed the spec for igcse edexcel science (if you do GCSE, the exam board requires you to go into a school/college to do practicals - which aren’t weighted in your grade, just part of the course) I used science with hazel YouTube videos & got a 9 in biology. IGCSE is internationally accepted - unis accept them equally to GCSE.

I think the online providers are somewhat good for structure, but if you buy the CGP books, that gives you a guide of the order of topics. You just pay for the exams with the exam board, but there are certain cut off times for entering; you can check this info online - I used tutors and exams in Coventry to sit my exams.

Hope this helps!

In terms of GCSE Chemistry I read that since I already sat the exam and all the practicals- that if I use the same exam board I don't need to do all the practicals again for the resit? So I'm planning to just resit with Edexcel again for GCSE Chemistry as that's the exam board that I know.
There's no online courses for Edexcel (found that out this morning) so thanks so much for your advice on following the spec/cgp revision guides!

Oh that will be good then, it had been so long since I had sat my GCSEs - I didn’t look into that. If you ring tutors and exams, they’ll be able to give you the best up to date info re all of that.

Learn direct do edexcel for gcse maths - that’s who I initially used - https://www.learndirect.com/course/gcse-mathematics-no-exam - you buy the course and the exam as a package - but I think with you not long being out of GCSES, you will be absolutely fine following spec and revision books! Good luck in your journey!
