Any NMC-approved nursing course will be fine as they are all of the same standard. Search for approved courses using the following tool:

Hi there,

At Liverpool John Moores University, we offer Nursing (Adult), Nursing (Child), Nursing (Mental Health), and Midwifery. These are worth exploring for anyone interested in specialising in a particular area of nursing: https://www.ljmu.ac.uk/study/subjects/nursing-midwifery-and-paramedic-science

All of our courses are accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

Hi!

Similarly to what's been said by others all universities in the UK offering nursing courses are accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

Here at Wrexham University, we offer Nursing (Adult), Nursing (Child), Nursing (Mental Health). I myself am about ot start my 3rd year of Childrens nursing here! There is so much to consider when deciding to do nursing, first what specific area, and second where to go! Below are some blogs from our uni to help you decide. 🙂

I hope this helps, and feel free to contact our students (like myself!) on UniBuddy for further help! 🙂

Hi Fred,

It’s wonderful to hear that your friend is considering a career in nursing. Nursing is such a rewarding profession, and choosing the right university is an important step. At LSBU, we are proud to be one of London’s leading providers of health and social care education, offering a wide range of undergraduate nursing and midwifery programmes. We also have an outstanding reputation for professional training, strong NHS partnerships, and excellent student support, which makes us a fantastic choice for anyone wanting to enter the profession.

For students who need a supportive route into higher education, we offer the Health and Social Care Foundation Year, which provides a pathway into nursing or allied health courses. Those looking for a more vocational entry can consider the FdSc Nursing Associate (Direct Entry), which gives hands-on training to prepare students to work as Nursing Associates, or the Nursing Associate Apprenticeship, which allows you to study while employed in the healthcare sector.

At the undergraduate degree level, we provide a wide choice of nursing specialisms. These include the BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing, which prepares students for working in hospitals, community care, and specialist adult health services; the BSc (Hons) Children’s Nursing, which focuses on delivering safe and compassionate care for children, young people and their families; and the BSc (Hons) Learning Disability Nursing, designed to support people with learning disabilities to live fulfilling lives and access appropriate health care. We also offer the BSc (Hons) Mental Health Nursing, which equips students with the skills to support patients with a wide range of mental health needs.

Alongside nursing, LSBU also offers the BSc (Hons) Midwifery (3 years), which prepares students to provide care and support throughout pregnancy, childbirth and early parenthood. These courses are accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), which means graduates are eligible to register and practice as nurses or midwives in the UK.

One of the key advantages of LSBU is our strong partnerships with NHS Trusts and healthcare providers across London, which give students excellent placement opportunities. These placements allow students to gain first-hand experience in hospitals, clinics and community settings, ensuring they graduate with both the knowledge and the practical skills needed to succeed. In addition, LSBU provides strong career and pastoral support throughout your studies, from employability workshops to mentoring and wellbeing services.

Another benefit is our location. Being based in the heart of London means you will be studying in one of the world’s most dynamic healthcare environments, surrounded by leading hospitals and health services. This not only enriches your learning experience but also offers excellent opportunities for career progression after graduation.

Finally, I’d strongly encourage your friend to attend one of our Open Days to find out more. We have one taking place on Saturday 4th October and another on the 15th of November. These events are a great opportunity to explore our facilities, meet academic staff, talk to current nursing students, and get tailored advice about the application process.
👉 You can sign up here: LSBU Open Day
👉 You can also chat with our students through our Unibuddy platform: Chat with our students

With the wide range of nursing and health programmes, professional accreditation, excellent placement opportunities and our central London location, LSBU is a fantastic choice for anyone considering a career in nursing or midwifery.

Hello,

Since most universities collectively offer nursing degrees that align with the NMC and allows you to apply for registration at the end of the course, it’s best for you to look at how convenient and supportive the university is. Doing nursing means that you’ll need a lot of university support from your tutors for when you’re out on placement. The main reason why I chose to study nursing at Kingston is because the tutors have your back. I always felt backed up and supported by my university when I was sent on placement☺️.

Also, the schedule should be well fitted. For example here at kingston university, placement and theory (lectures) are separate. And our lecture days are only 3 full days in person. This is so the university can allow us free time for self studying and personal life commitments.
So I definitely recommend that you look into each university and the support/benefits they offer for their nursing students 😊.
