Is it appropriate to mention my cultural background?

Applying for Cambridge

I was going to write a tiny bit on my personal statement about my interest in sustainable urban planning in East Asia.

Would it be a good idea to mention my own personal connection? (I'm half Pakistani, half Filipino)

Or would that just be a waste of words...

Also, I heard that the number of non-white successful applicants has been increasing year on year, so I was wondering if it may be helpful (obviously they know where I'm from based on the rest of my application, but ykwim)

but, yeah, it sounds like a good idea to talk about it briefly as it links well.

But it’s not DEI
