Chances of offers for International Relations

Hi, my predicted grades are A*BC in History, Biology and Chemistry; I also have a pending EPQ. I am aspiring to study International Relations and I was hoping if anyone has any knowledge of my chances of an offer if I applied to these universities?
Liverpool-International Relations-ABB-BBB Alternative offer
Exeter-History and International Relations-AAB-ABB
Cardiff-International Relations-ABB-BBC
Southhampton-International Relations-ABB-BBB. Alternative offer
Essex-International Relations BBB
All help is appreciated

Your predicted grades are very close to the required grades so you have decent chances. The only uncertainty is the C in Chemistry. Is it possible to boost your Chemistry to B? It definitely helps. Good luck.

Dropping your EPQ to focus on that C grade might be worth it.

Hi!! I’m a current student ambassador at the University of Southampton, so I can give you some insight into how your predicted grades and interests might align with the International Relations course here.
Your predicted grades of A*BC (plus the pending EPQ) sound promising especially since Southampton’s standard offer for BA International Relations is ABB, with an alternative offer of BBB if you have a strong EPQ or meet other contextual criteria. The admissions team tends to consider applicants holistically but feel free to contact them @ [email protected].
If you’re genuinely passionate about International Relations and can show that through your statement or relevant experience (like Model UN, debating, reading beyond the syllabus, etc.), you’d definitely be a competitive applicant.
The course itself at Southampton has a great mix of theory and contemporary relevance you’ll explore global politics, international security, and development while having the option to specialise later on. There are also opportunities for study abroad or modules from other disciplines, which many students enjoy.
So, in short: you’re within range for the offer, and with a strong application, you’d have a realistic chance at receiving one.
Best of luck with your applications and feel free to ask if you’d like to know more about what studying IR at Southampton is actually like day to day!
