I have bought a rail ticket

Which I can’t use,, because when I bought it I thought I was going to a football match. However I’ve been feeling unwell and I’ve found out I can’t get a refund. If anyone is interested it’s from Clifton Down to Plymouth on the 20th September leaving at 0900 hrs arriving in Plymouth at 1145ish. I hate to waste money so if anyone wants it for FREE please send me a message, and if I’m able to forward the ticket to whoever wants it I’ll happily do it

I’ve been in the same spot after booking for a match and then getting ill. With GWR I once got an Advance ticket swapped to an eVoucher as a goodwill thing via chat, so it’s worth asking. If that doesn’t work, you can sometimes change the service in app for a small fee and the fare difference, then pass it on to someone who can use it. For sports trips, I now sort the match seat first on a resale marketplace with a 100% order guarantee and then lock travel. I’ve used https://www.seatpin.com/the-ashes-cricket-tickets for last‑minute Ashes days, prices are set by sellers, so I just keep an eye and pounce when it dips.
