History A Level: AQA Source Questions

Hey, so I'm doing aqa a level history, 1J The British Empire and 2G The Birth of the USA, I struggle with the source/interpretation questions on both - but especially Birth of the USA.
The thing I can never understand is how to pick things out from the source, that are actually things you should be picking out to talk about value with. I'm scoring way lower in paper 2 because of this, I'm getting Grade A/A* in paper one, but my skills on paper 2 are so much worse my overall grade in history gets pushed down to a B. I need to work on the 25 markers for Birth of the USA too, my teacher takes ages to mark work then gives literally no feedback.
So, yeah. Any tips or help would be really really appreciated. Thank you.
